Front Filix 1

The Paper Planes Club team arrived at Filix School of Education with a lot to share with a bunch of inquisitive and creative students.

Zine Workshop

Ahana Bhattacharya carried out a 2-hour zine-making workshop, with students from classes 5-8, where students brought rudimentary art supplies like paper and colours, and made creative zines (little magazines) with us. They were taught two types of folds of zines. This was a brilliant outlet for children to creatively express their thoughts and opinions on things that are important to them.

Science-Fiction Writing Workshop

Soham Guha, Sci-fi writer, carried out a 1.5 hour workshop on writing science-fiction with students from class 5-8. In this workshop, students learned about the main elements of the genre in questions, explored real-world and fictional examples, and discussed ways to improve their conceptualisation of the genre.

Storytelling Workshop

Nadia Imam, Antonym’s editor for children’s books, carried out a 1.5 hour workshop on storytelling with students from class 5-8. In this workshop, students learned about the basics of storytelling. With Nadia’s help, students captured the essence of story-telling through engaging discussion.

Magazine Review

A select group of students under the guidance of The Paper Planes Team looked through an  Advance Review Copy (ARC of the upcoming The Paper Planes Journal’s 1st  issue. Pages from the first issue of the journal, were given to older students from various classes. Detailed feedback was acquired from them on the layout, design and contents of the magazine, written over a span of 1.5 hour, some of which has been incorporated as well.
