Aishani Mukherjee

Issue 1

I am Aishani Mukherjee and I study in class 8 at The Heritage School, Kolkata. I have visited many hillstations in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh which inspired me to capture the quiet beauty of nature—the way rivers carve their paths through valleys, how snow-capped mountains stand timeless against the sky, and how even the smallest wildflowers add life to a scene. Through this painting, I have tried to express nature in my own way. I chose acrylics as the medium for this painting because it allows me to layer vibrant colors quickly and capture both the depth of the mountains and the freshness of the greenery. While I enjoy painting with acrylics, I also love using oils for their richness and blending, as well as pastels for their softness.
I’m most drawn to painting nature, because it lets me paint freely and endlessly without any particular measurements as required in portraits and architectural sketches. Moreover, there is a certain joy in painting trees, skies, or streams each with its own characteristics, that allow me to slow down and notice details that often go unseen. Overall, painting is more than just a hobby for me—it’s a way of expressing how I see the world.
